Tonight, dad and I tried to do taxes. It was too crazy to figure out the condo rental stuff, so we called the guy who did them for the last two years. we got on Laura and Rani's blogs and had fun reading about those who we love. Last night we got birthday cards ready for our twin grand daughters. about time, their birthdays were at the first of the month. I still think I am getting alzhiemers but loren tells me to not worry, it's ok to forget birthdays, the problem occurs when I forget I have grand daughters.

Lock down

WOW what a day Friday. I was sitting with about 3 students finishing up on adding fractions. The principal came over the intercom and told us to keep the kids inside during recess. And also check our email. So I being the obedient one and also brimming with curiosity, checked my E-mail. It said that someone in our neighborhood was murdered. We were on lockdown. All doors were locked to the outside except for the front doors. About 30 minutes later, He came over the intercom again.

This time it was asking if all teachers with student teachers, aides etc. basically those who didn't have kids at that time to please come to the office. It seems that the news got hold of the incident and parents were coming to get their kids. It was crazy. They had to sign them out and a teacher etc. went to get them. We didn't want parents running all over the school. That lasted about 1/2 hour. We were then told that the police had found the guy and for the last 15 minutes it was crazy. If they hadn't of caught him, we would be having all the kids in the gym and allowing them to leave only with their parent. Nothing like a lock down to excite your day. I actually wanted to see the chaos that would of been in the gym. Oh well. After 25 years of teaching this was a first. I don't think it will happen again.

Bella and Edward

Yesterday Rani, Rachel and I went to see Twilight. I was a little sceptical. But it was true to the book with all the longing looks and beautiful bodies. I didn't think the actor playing Edward was good enough looking after seeing him in harry potter but he was in the movie. I love mindless stories that I don't have to think about, It is a great way to relax. and afterward we went out to dinner. good excuse for a girls night out. and Maggie is coming down today without her kids we are going shopping and will go get Rani at 5:30 for dinner. and maybe more shopping. I don't know what we are shopping for but in that case maybe I won't spend any money.

Loren's proddings

LoLo called me the other day and asked why I wasn't writing on my blog and I must admit I hadn't thought about it. So here is our catch up. dad is doing fine. Mom is doing fine. Ethan is doing fine. just kidding. Dad is still getting up early and going to bed early. He likes the creative side of his job. He is tired when he gets home and likes to sit in front of the TV for the rest of the night. school is crazy. I have to do so many more things and really don't have the time. The big push in education is data driven instruction. If I pretest a student and find (for example) that he is reading too slow. I teach towards his reading faster. then weekly I test his rate and see if he is reading faster. If not I change my instruction to help him. so all 30 kids have to be tested weekly on their goals. the challenge is finding the time to teach and test. they all have at least 3 goals and 6 objectives.
Len and Angie have been living with us. they bought a house in Springville and will be moving at the end of the month. I love visiting with Angie. She also cooks dinner. wow am I spoiled. and to top it off she is a good cook.
grandma is with us until after thanksgiving. JaNeanne went to Alex's house in California. Love to all
